Xena has already overcome more than any dog ever should. After surviving a gunshot wound to the face, she’s proven just how strong and resilient she is. She may have lost an eye and fractured her skull, but she has since fully recovered as a one-eyed beauty! But what will inspire you most isn’t her will to live, but her will to love.

Xena absolutely lives for love — she gratefully soaks up all the pets, cuddles, and attention you’re willing to give. If you’re looking for a dog who wants to be close to her people, Xena is your girl. Xena has a gentle, loving nature that makes her a wonderful fit for many types of homes. She’s also dog-friendly, cat-friendly, and kid-friendly.

She is still working on her house-training, so she’ll need a family who can be patient and consistent as she continues to learn. She’s trying her best and just needs time and guidance to succeed.

We’ve also found that Xena can get a little nervous in her foster home’s large, open yard. Because of that, she’ll do best with someone who is willing to help her build confidence and show her that the world is a safe place. With a little reassurance and routine, she’s already making progress.

Xena’s ideal home is with people who will be patient with her as she continues to learn, will offer gentle guidance and encouragement as she moves forward, and will give her the love she so freely gives in return.
