New Orleans Bulldog Rescue is proud to announce our new "SAFE HAVEN" program for pets of victims of domestic violence.

According to the National Coalition Against Domestic Violence, "every 9 seconds in the US, a woman is assaulted or beaten." Sadly, many victims are unable to leave a dangerous situation because they have nowhere to bring their pet, or are afraid of losing the pet during the tumultuous transition. Meanwhile, animals are also in danger because there is a strong correlation between domestic violence and animal cruelty.

The Safe Haven program will hold pets on behalf of their owners until a safe landing spot can be found. We have partnered with local support programs and shelters, and hoping our existing network of foster homes will allow us to accept dogs with short notice. All breeds of dogs are accepted, and we believe this will help people ensure their own safety, as well as that of children and pets. Of course, animals carry great therapeutic qualities to help people heal as well.

If you would like to volunteer, or might be interested in fostering another dog in the meantime, please email us at NewOrleansBulldogs@gmail.com.

If able, please consider donating to support this program. All donations go directly toward food, supplies, and potential medical care.

thank you!
